HAMPTON, Va. — U.S. Coast Guard crews in Hampton rescued a 42-year-old man after his sailboat started taking on water early Friday morning.
It happened just before 2 a.m., about two miles east of Salt Ponds. The Coast Guard says that by the time crews got the 30-foot sailboat, there was already about three feet of water on board!
They helped towed the vessel to the Old Point Comfort Marina.
A Hampton Fire and Rescue fire boat assisted and brought the boater safely to shore.
