HAMPTON, Va. — A group of senior citizens got to take a holiday shopping trip with deputies from the Hampton Sheriff's Office on Thursday.
The annual shopping trip, sponsored by Sheriff Karen Bowden, bussed the shoppers to the Target at Peninsula Town Center. It aims to get seniors in need of transportation to the store while having a fun afternoon, according to a news release.
The deputies spent the morning and afternoon escorting seniors who are uncomfortable shopping alone. They helped by managing walkers, carrying packages and working through tough shopping choices.
The afternoon ended with a complimentary buffet lunch at a local restaurant.
