HAMPTON, Va. — In a recent study done by financial website SmartAsset, the City of Hampton was ranked the 17th most affordable beach town out of 219 cities in consideration.
Local resident Cahmbriel Clackum can see it. “The beach here, we have free parking, restroom facilities year-round and unlike Virginia Beach and Yorktown, they don't comb the beaches so I can always get [sea] shells,” Clackum said.
Michael Laeth was visiting Buckroe Beach for the first time. “I just think it's amazing out here. I’d want to come back and get to know the people and area more.”
Hampton tied Ormond Beach, Florida for 17th place while Gulfport, Mississippi took the overall top spot.
No other beach towns in Virginia made the top 50.
