New police training academy opens in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. — A ribbon-cutting for a brand new police training academy in Hampton was held on Tuesday.

The purpose of the new facility is to help modernize and enhance Hampton police training. It has improved classrooms, use of force training simulator, indoor track, defensive tactics training room, conference rooms, auditorium,  and administrative offices. 

The new training center will also allow for more academy classes to be taught. 

The new facility is at the Teen Center at 300 Butler Farm Road.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mayor Donnie Tuck and Police Chief Terry Sult gave brief remarks.
