HAMPTON, Va. — Eastbound lanes at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel have reopened after a cooking oil spill caused lane closures Friday morning, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.

Eastbound lanes were closed on I-64 at the HRBT for an emergency roadway cleanup due to cooking oil being spilled through the tunnel.

Officials said crews were on-site to clear both eastbound lanes. Traffic backups are about one mile.

Motorists should expect delays due to congestion.
