Hampton woman dies of apparent gunshot wound

HAMPTON, Va. — A Hampton woman died of an apparent gunshot wound late Sunday night, and the Hampton Police Division is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a suspect.

At approximately 10:16 p.m., Hampton Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to an unconscious person in the first block of Bentley Drive, according to a Hampton Police Division press release.

Officers arrived on the scene and located a 31-year-old Hampton woman, Heaven-Lee Reed, inside her home with an apparent gunshot wound. Members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim deceased, the release stated.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
