HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton University announced on Monday that they are parting ways with their men's basketball head coach Edward Joyner, Jr.
Joyner Jr. became head coach at Hampton University in 2009 after serving as an assistant to Kevin Nickleberry for three seasons before taking over his position.
"Coach Joyner is a good basketball coach and a tremendous person," Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson Sr. said in their release announcing the split.
"Over the past 15 years, he has poured his heart and soul into the Hampton basketball program. Ultimately, we have not maintained the consistent level of success on the court that we expect. After a full review, we have decided to make a change in the basketball program's leadership."
