Hampton shooting sends 2 men to hospital; police seek public's help

HAMPTON, Va. — 2 people were shot in Hampton Tuesday night; police are seeking the public's help during the investigation. 

Hampton police say that on Tuesday around 8:50 p.m. they received multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area of Easterly Avenue and Langley Avenue.

While checking out the area, officers found a 42-year-old Hampton man with a gunshot wound in the 900 block of North King Street. Officers were then notified of another gunshot victim, a 35-year-old Hampton man in the 600 block of Michigan Drive. 

Both victims were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries by Hampton Fire and Rescue. 

Their investigation revealed both victims were walking in the area of Langley Avenue and Easterly Avenue when the suspects approached and started firing at them. Both victims were hit by gunfire and fled. 

Hampton police say that the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
