Neighborhood shaken after Hampton drive-by shooting leaves man seriously injured

Police said the victim was outside in front of the home when a vehicle approached and began firing in his direction, striking the victim.

HAMPTON, Va. — Some Hampton residents are expressing their concerns after a shooting left a man fighting for his life on Monday night.

Residents living near where the shooting happened say they watched their quiet neighborhood turn into a crime scene. They told us they didn’t know the man living at this home and said this wasn’t the first time trouble had come to Harlow Court.

One neighbor told 13News Now she heard about four to five gunshots coming from the house behind her home. She’s startled by the shooting but said this isn’t the first time she has seen law enforcement at that home.

“Oh, I’m scared to death. I mean that’s happened twice at that place and I don’t feel safe. I have a privacy fence, and I see the kid,” she said. “I don’t know if he came home. He was outside and the car pulled up.”

Hampton police shared some information regarding the circumstances of the shooting. Around 10:31 pm, the Hampton Police Division received a call about a shooting in the first block of Harlow Court.

Police said the victim was outside in front of the home when a vehicle approached and began firing in his direction, striking the victim. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hampton Police need the public’s help to identify possible suspects and they’re working to learn the shooter’s motive and circumstances of this incident.  Police have said they don’t believe there is a further threat to the community, however.
