HAMPTON, Va. — The lights are dimming for good at a Hampton movie theater.

Cinema Cafe announced that its location in the Riverdale neighborhood permanently closed on Monday after its lease expired. The movie theater had been in operation for 18 years.

The Cinema Cafe movie theater franchise mixes watching movies on the big screen with a dine-in restaurant experience. There are also Cinema Cafe locations in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, as well as one location in central Virginia in Chester.

"We hope that the talented team at the Riverdale will carry the spirit of Cinema Cafe into their future endeavors, and we hope you will continue to support them in their new adventures as you see them around town," Cinema Cafe said in a statement announcing its closure.

Cinema Cafe said its movie passes for the Hampton location will still be honored at any Cinema Cafe location and that EVO Entertainment, located at Hampton's Peninsula Town Center, has also graciously agreed to honor all Peninsula Cinema Cafe Movie Passes.

Gift cards purchased for the Riverdale location can be used at any other Cinema Cafe location. If you want a refund, you can call 757-747-1393 or complete this form.
