Hampton police find woman shot in vehicle

Hampton Police say that around 11:30 p.m., Hampton dispatch received a call for a shooting in the 1st block of S. Armistead Avenue.

HAMPTON, Va. — A woman was shot in Hampton Tuesday night, police say.

Hampton Police say that around 11:30 p.m., Hampton dispatch received a call for a shooting in the 1st block of S. Armistead Avenue. When officers arrived they found a 33-year-old woman in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was taken to the hospital by Hampton Fire and Rescue with a non-life-threatening injury.

Investigation revealed that the victim was traveling southbound on S. Armistead Avenue when she saw a vehicle following her. She made a turn at the W. Queen Street intersection. 

The suspect shot several times at the woman's vehicle, striking her. Then the suspect fled. 

Police say this shooting incident appears to be a "continuation from an earlier dispute."

The incident is under investigation by detectives from the Major Crime Unit.
