HAMPTON -- A student at George P. Phenix Middle School in Hampton is facing internal school discipline for an incident where police say the student shot another with an "Air Soft" gun.
Police say that prior to the start of the school day, two middle school students were in the gym playing around. The male removed an air soft gun from his book bag and shot the female in the back.
The female did not receive any injuries and at no time felt threatened.
School officials say because the air soft gun was quickly located and the male student was immediately identified, the school was not placed on lock down.
The principal said the student was disciplined but no further details were disclosed.
