LGBT Life Center hosts grand opening of Hampton facility

The opening of this Hampton location expands the services available to the LGBTQ community, and anyone who needs the support.

HAMPTON, Va. — The Peninsula's LGBT Life Center held its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday for a new state-of-the-art facility in Hampton.

Since 2018, the Center has been a community resource based in Norfolk. With the opening of the Hampton location, the center expands the services available to the LGBTQ community, and anyone who needs the support. It provides health services, housing assistance, a food pantry and more.

The new location has a fully equipped clinic, an on-site pharmacy, a Pride Pantry and spaces for community groups and staff.

This year marks the center's 35th year serving Hampton Roads with health and community services.

“This new facility is not just a building; it’s a beacon of hope and support for our community,” said Stacie Walls. “We are deeply grateful to all who helped make this possible, and we are excited to continue our mission of building health equity in the Hampton Roads LGBTQ+ community and beyond.”

About 200 guests attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, including Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck along with other elected officials, local supporters, donors, LGBT Life Center staff and board members, local LGBTQ+ groups, community members and current and prospective patients.
