Hampton crews battle house fire; no one hurt

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton fire crews battled a two-story house fire Friday morning.

The fire started just before 2 a.m. on West Weaver Road. Officials said no one was inside the house at the time and no one was hurt.

By 3 a.m., firefighters had fully contained the fire.

Luckily, resident Mack Pierce wasn't home when the flame started, but all of his belonging were inside.

"My clothes, television, lawnmower, ID, birth certificate, social security card, and Medicaid card were all in there. I don't have anything anymore and I don't know what I am going to do," Pierce said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but according to Pierce, fire officials told him the cause of the fire could have been electrical and that it started on the second floor.
