HAMPTON, Va. — The U.S. Coast Guard and Hampton Fire-Rescue had announced they were searching for a missing swimmer who disappeared off of Outlook Beach Fort Monroe in Hampton. It turned out the report was a false alarm, the Coast Guard said. The search was suspended around 8 p.m., "pending further developments."
The Coast Guard had described the missing individual as an "African American male with blue swim trunks" who was not seen resurfacing after going underwater.
