HAMPTON, Va. — Amazon has opened a new same-day delivery site in Hampton where people can pick up their packages in a matter of hours.

"These smaller, first-of-their-kind Amazon buildings are designed for speed, allowing us to fulfill, sort, and deliver packages all from one site," the company said in their announcement. "Thanks to streamlined operations, including the assistance of hundreds of robots, employees at this Same-Day Delivery site can pick and pack customer orders in minutes for fast, reliable delivery."

Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck announced it during his State of the City address on Tuesday, and in the announcement, he praised the creation of new jobs and the company's investment in Hampton.
