HAMPTON, Va. — A 2-year-old girl died in Hampton Tuesday afternoon after police say she got a loaded firearm and accidentally shot herself.
The shooting happened at a residence in the 500 block of Marcella Road. A 911 call about the incident was made around 1:05 p.m.
According to the Hampton Police Division, officers located the victim with a single gunshot wound. Medics transported the girl to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to police.
Police are currently at the scene investigating the shooting. No further information was provided.
