18-year-old shot while driving in Hampton, police say

Hampton Police say they received a call reporting a shooting in the area of Big Bethel Road and Towne Centre Way around 9:35 p.m. Thursday.

HAMPTON, Va. — A man was shot while driving in Hampton Thursday night, police say.

Hampton Police say they received a call reporting a shooting in the area of Big Bethel Road and Towne Centre Way around 9:35 p.m.

When officers arrived they found an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in a vehicle. The victim was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Police investigation revealed the victim was driving in the 3000 block of Montpelier Place when he was hit. The victim fled and crashed in the area where officers found him. 

Officers responded to a home that was also struck by gunfire on Montpelier Place. The residents who were at home were not injured.

Police are investigating the incident.
