CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a deadly crash in Chesapeake on Sunday night.
VSP responded to a call reporting a two-vehicle crash in the westbound express lane of Interstate 64 around 10:28 p.m.
According to police, the driver of a 2009 Malibu, 81-year-old John Duff, was driving westbound in the express lane of Interstate 64 when he ran off the road and hit the jersey wall. After the car hit the wall, it spun around facing the wrong direction and became disabled. The man got out and stood outside his car.
Shortly after the crash the driver of a 2019 Dodge Challenger was speeding, lost control of her car and hit Duff and his car. Duff was taken to Norfolk Sentara General, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the 2019 Dodge Challenger, Dahnna Renita Meno, 19, and her four passengers were not injured.
Meno has been charged with reckless driving and further charges are pending. The Common Wealth Attorney has been contacted.
