CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake welcomed a new food hub on Thursday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, marking the opening of the Impact Food Pantry at True Way Church in Chesapeake.
TrueWay Church and Impact VA joined forces to launch the community food pantry to address food insecurity in southeastern Virginia.
The food pantry is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. It is located at 1745 Mount Pleasant Road in Chesapeake.
Executive Director Mechele Hairston says she hopes the pantry will help empower lives beyond just providing meals.
