CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A man has been arrested for a hit and run on Friday evening, the Chesapeake Police Department (CPD) said.
CPD responded to a call reporting a possible drunk driver involved in a hit-and-run accident on South Military Highway near the Virginia Beach city line.
An officer saw the suspect driving on Military Highway and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver didn't stop, turning the traffic stop into a vehicle pursuit.
The suspect was arrested after the vehicle stopped on Buttonwood Street. Due to being intoxicated and involved in an accident, the suspect was transported to the hospital.
Police say charges are still pending.
