CHESAPEAKE, Va. — No one was hurt, but an automotive business was severely damaged in a fire Tuesday afternoon, the Chesapeake Fire Department said.
Firefighters were called to Harrison's Automotive on Holland Boulevard just after 1 p.m. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-story building.
The owner had been inside when the fire broke out but was able to get out unharmed before firefighters arrived.
Chesapeake crews were able to bring the fire under control just before 1:30, with the help of Portsmouth Fire & Rescue.
The business suffered significant smoke and fire damage and will be closed for an extended period of time.
The fire marshal's office is investigating what caused the fire.
