CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A fire broke out at a detached garage in the 2700 block of Cedar Road in Chesapeake on Monday afternoon, the Chesapeake Fire Department said.
They were called to the property at 2:16 p.m. after a neighbor reported witnessing smoke coming from the second floor of the garage unit. When units arrived, they reported smoke showing from the exterior of the garage.
The fire was extinguished at 2:32 p.m., and confined to the second floor of the detached garage, which was being used as an apartment unit. The fire originated from the kitchen area.
The occupants were not home during the incident and no injuries were reported, but the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
