CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A brush fire burning between 1-2 acres near railroad tracks in Chesapeake on Monday has been extinguished, according to the Chesapeake Fire Department (CFD).
At around 1:30 p.m., the department said firefighters from Chesapeake and Virginia Beach responded to the blaze in the vicinity of Gallbush Road and the 168 Bypass.
Among the brush burning were stacks of old railroad ties.
Using a "significant amount of water and Class A foam," crews managed to put out the ties. The fire was brought under control just before 2 p.m., with a spokesperson for CFD saying crews stayed at the scene for a few more hours to monitor any hotspots and continue to douse the stacks.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
