CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Police in Chesapeake are investigating a pair of shootings that left a man dead and another injured on Friday night.
According to investigators, officers were called to the 700 block of Sea Palling Lane just before 8 p.m. They arrived to find the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors told 13News Now they heard 'a loud boom,' and then looked outside to see a large police presence on their street. They said it was surprising as they did not hear any yelling leading up to the shooting.
Also just minutes before 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Great Bridge Boulevard and found an adult male lying down near the dairy section of the Food Lion grocery store. The victim reported he had been shot at his residence in the 700 block of Sea Pines Run and fled to the store to escape. Witnesses near the man's home said the shooter fled in a vehicle. This man's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police have not released any information at this time about what may have led to the shootings, or if any suspects have been identified. Authorities did say in a news release that there was no threat to the public.
