CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Chesapeake on Saturday afternoon, the Chesapeake Police Department (CPD) said.
According to CPD, the crash happened around 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of Hanbury Road and Benson Lane, near the Route 168 Expressway ramps.
A preliminary investigation indicates a motorcycle, driven by 19-year-old Jeffrey Redding of Chesapeake, was traveling east on Hanbury Road approaching the intersection when a pickup truck traveling west turned in front of the motorcycle to enter a shopping center at Benson Lane. The motorcycle then hit the side of the truck, killing Redding.
There's no word on if any charges will be filed, but authorities said the Chesapeake Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating.
The roadways have reopened to traffic.
