Motorcyclist killed in interstate crash near Greenbrier section of Chesapeake

Virginia State Police said the motorcyclist was driving too fast on an I-64 on-ramp when he lost control.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A man has died following a motorcycle crash on Interstate 64 in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake.

Virginia State Police say it happened just after 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, when 28-year-old Joshua Brown of Portsmouth was driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed along an on-ramp when he lost control of it. Brown was thrown from the motorcycle, which then slid into the path of another vehicle.

Brown was seriously hurt in the crash and taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, Shelby Ross Oliver, was charged with driving while license revoked (3rd offense) and for driving without insurance.

Police said it is not known at this time if alcohol was a contributing factor. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
