Chesapeake house fire displaces family

Chesapeake firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes of the call, but the house sustained significant damage.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Two adults and one child are displaced after a fire started in their Chesapeake home in the Deep Creek area of the city. 

The Chesapeake Fire Department received a call about a fire in the 600 block of Meadow Creek Ct just after 8:50 a.m. Wednesday morning. They got the call after one of the residents discovered a fire in the home's attached garage. 

Firefighters discovered that the fire had extended into the attic, but were able to get the fire under control just after 9 a.m.

 All residents were safely evacuated from the home before fire crews arrived. 

The home sustained significant damage and the family can no longer live there. The residents were able to find lodging with family. 

Fire investigators have ruled the fire accidental.
