'It's wild out here' | Neighbors react to Chesapeake double shooting investigation

A man and a woman are in the hospital with serious injuries after being shot in the 4200 block of Reid Street in Chesapeake, according to police.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A man and woman are in the hospital, both with serious injuries, according to Chesapeake police.

Authorities responded to a call in the 4200 block of Reid Street Friday night, just after 10 p.m. Police confirmed on Saturday morning, the shooting happened near an apartment complex, and there was property damage.

"All of a sudden, I heard about 15 shots from different guns," one neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, told 13News Now. That neighbor pointed out a car with a shattered back windshield, with glass still in the parking lot. They also showed our crews two cars with what appeared to be bullet holes.

"It was chaos, people running around screaming and stuff," they added. "It’s wild out here."

Master Police Officer Leo Kosinski confirmed there was property damage, saying, "bullets are indiscriminate. Once they leave the barrel of that gun, they’re going in a straight line, and they don’t have thoughts or feelings about what they hit. Buildings have windows. Bullets can enter and hit indiscriminately."

The neighbor told us they considered that Friday night, saying, "I rolled off my bed and laid on the floor until I heard some sirens. When I heard the sirens, that’s when I came out."

Officer Kosinski said it's too early to tell if this shooting was domestic-related.

There are currently no suspects, CPD said, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip online at P3TIPS.com.

This is a developing story and will be updated as soon as 13News Now receives more details.
