Man found shot inside Chesapeake Food Lion

The victim told police he had been shot inside his home on Sea Pines Run and that he ran to the nearby grocery store to get away from the shooter.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Police in Chesapeake say a man who was shot inside his home ran to a nearby grocery store to escape on Friday evening.

Officers were called to the Food Lion on Great Bridge Boulevard around 7:49 p.m. for reports of a shooting. They arrived to find a man lying on the ground near the dairy section of the grocery store.

The victim told police he had been shot inside his home on Sea Pines Run and that he ran to the grocery store to get away from the shooter. Investigators said the victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The shooter reportedly left the area in a vehicle. Police have not publicly identified the suspect at this time.
