CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to not fall for a jury duty scam!

CSO advised residents to be cautious of scam callers after deputies received several reports of residents targeted with the "jury duty scam" this week.

According to deputies, scammers are calling residents saying they have a warrant out for their arrest and demanding they pay a bond immediately. The scammers also email or text a fake arrest warrant sometimes using a real deputy's name.

CSO said they will never ask for a payment over the phone. Undersheriff Rosado advises residents to look for red flags to avoid falling victim to the scam.

If you receive a scam call, you should hang up and contact the Chesapeake Sherriff's Office at 757-382-6159.
