CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Several schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning in Chesapeake, following reports of a person wielding a pitchfork.
Officers responded at 10 a.m. to a suspicious male carrying a pitch fork and walking in the 400 block of Providence Rd.
Indian River High School, Indian River Middle School, Chesapeake Alternative School and Georgetown Primary were placed on temporary lockdown.
Police found the man fitting the description of the suspicious male and interviewed him. He was released later on.
Officials say the lockdowns were lifted as of 10:45.
