CHESAPEAKE, Va. — There's still a chance to grab a free winter coat from a Hampton Roads nonprofit.
This week, New Vision Youth Services, Inc. in Chesapeake has given out winter coats to teens and young adults in need.
Wednesday was the third and final day for people ages 13 through 24 can stop by the coat drive at the organization's South Norfolk headquarters. They also shared more information about the programs they offer.
According to its website, the nonprofit's mission is to "serve as a bridge linking together the people and resources for youth to make the connections needed to transition successfully into adulthood."
They partnered with the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice Tidewater Chapter for their Thanksgiving Food Basket, providing turkeys and bags of food to those in need who came in for coats.
Even though the coat drive ended around noon Wednesday, they still have about a hundred jackets or so and will be doing "Coat by Appointment" so anyone who still needs coats can call their office to schedule an appointment.
They offer programs for food assistance, bus ticket assistance, life skills, GED classes, job readiness, clothing assistance, housing and more.
The drive is located at 911B Street, #118 in Chesapeake.
