CHESAPEAKE, Va. — We’re learning more about a shooting in Chesapeake Friday night that left two people with serious injuries.
Police say emergency crews brought a man and woman to the hospital after a shooting in the 4200 block of Reid Street at around 10 p.m.
Cars in a Reid Street apartment complex’s parking lot may be clues as to what happened late Friday night. A man and woman suffered serious injuries in a shooting.
One car had a shattered back windshield, and two others had bullet holes.
One resident said he heard about 15 shots from two different guns.
“It was chaos, people running around screaming and stuff,” he said. “It’s wild out here.”
Master Police Officer Leo Kosinski with the Chesapeake Police Department confirmed to 13News Now that the shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Reid Street, and there was property damage.
“Bullets are indiscriminate,” Kosinksi said. “Once they leave the barrel of that gun, they’re going in a straight line, and they don’t have thoughts or feelings about what they hit. Buildings have windows. Bullets can enter and hit indiscriminately.”
The resident we spoke to said he took that into consideration Friday night.
“I rolled off my bed and laid on the floor until I heard some sirens,” he said. “When I heard the sirens, that’s when I came out.”
Chesapeake police said they are asking for the public’s help in looking for suspects. If you know anything about this incident…you’re asked to call the crime line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tips can also be submitted through the app P3Tips or on P3tips.com.
