CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake Fire department officials say a person was injured in a house fire in the Deep Creek area Friday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., people inside a home on Sir Gawaine Drive called 911 about a fire in the back of the residence, according to Lieutenant Shaun Williams.
Crews arrived about four minutes later and went inside the home, where they determined the fire had entered the attic. Firefighters from Portsmouth arrived and helped extinguish the flames.
Lt. Williams said one person was injured while trying to put the fire out before firefighters arrived. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
As of 9:30 p.m., crews were still at the scene finishing up their response.
