Gregg Street fire determined to be foul play; Chesapeake woman arrested, charged with arson

Three occupants of the home were sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The Fire Department said Tamika Lawson was charged with felony arson of an occupied home.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Chesapeake Fire Department put out a fire early Friday morning that sent three people to the hospital, and is being investigated as an arson.

The three occupants, who were not named, had minor injuries.

A Friday afternoon release from the department said crews responded to a house fire around 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Gregg Street. That's off of Bainbridge Boulevard.

The fire was considered under control by 2:19 a.m.

By the afternoon, the department had issued a warrant for, and arrested, a 29-year-old Chesapeake woman in the case.

The department said Tamika Lawson was charged with felony arson of an occupied dwelling - and could face other charges, as the investigation continues.

Lawson is being held in the Chesapeake City Jail without bond.
