CHESAPEAKE, Va. — After nearly six months, the Centerville Turnpike Bridge in Chesapeake reopened on Saturday.
It's about two weeks ahead of schedule.
Crews have been repairing the 65-year-old bridge since August. City leaders said without the repairs, the may not be able to open and close properly.
The bridge officially reopened at 7 a.m. on February 15. There will be some weekend closures soon, though, so crews can wrap up the rehab project.
