CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Five people and a dog were displaced in a house fire in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake overnight on Monday.
The fire happened at a two-story home in the 2600 block of Cecilia Terrace, the Chesapeake Fire Department said. Firefighters responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. and arrived to see heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage.
After deploying several hoselines to put out the fire, it was marked under control at 1 a.m.
According to the Chesapeake Fire Department, the fire extensively damaged the home, and caused damage to a neighboring home's vinyl siding. The Red Cross is helping those displaced with temporary lodging.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
