3 families displaced after Chesapeake apartment fire

While no one was injured, fire and water damage has made three homes in the apartment complex unlivable, according to fire officials.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Three families have been displaced from their homes after an apartment fire in Chesapeake Saturday morning.

Crews with the Chesapeake Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at an apartment complex on Thoroughbred Lane, according to a statement on the department's Facebook page

While the fire was contained to just one room of one apartment on the third floor, two other apartments were affected significantly by water damage, fire officials said.

No one was injured, but residents of all three apartments -- seven adults and four children -- are having to find other places to stay. Some have asked for help from the American Red Cross.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. No other information has been released.
