NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A man has been arrested for assault in Newport News on Tuesday.
Police responded to a call at 9 p.m. at the 300 block of 48th Street.
The victim, a 60-year-old Newport News resident said he was assaulted by his 29-year-old boyfriend.
Police arrested LaShawn Charles Alexander of the 1400 block of Ellerback Court in Virginia Beach.
Alexander's charges include assault on a family member and impede blood circulation/ respiration resulting in bodily injury.
