CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- The game many people play at tailgates or in the backyard is turning into serious competition.
Cornhole isn't just for fun anymore, it's for money -- big money.
"That's why I'm in it," said 19-year-old Jordan Camba.
Jordan is one of the local residents who qualified to compete in the Cornhole World Championship Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee July 7-11. It's run by the American Cornhole Organization, ACO for short. It ranks players based on performances in local tournaments and regional tournaments all across the U.S.
Who knew cornhole was getting this intense?
"I get the stupid looking face from my friends when I tell them," Jordan said. "They look at me and think, 'Wow.'"
James Baldwin is also heading to the world championships. He's ranked #1 in Virginia and #10 in the world.
"I didn't believe it earlier until I started playing," James said.
James said he's proud of his high ranking, but he worked hard for it.
"Countless hours in the driveway just throwing by myself," he said.
Both players hope their hard work pays off in the form a world title and $10,000 added to their bank accounts.
"I don't even have any words for it," James said. "It would be huge."
"I'm going for it," Jordan said. "It would be incredible."
