JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — A 59-year-old woman was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence after officials in James City County say she collided with both a parked vehicle and a school bus on Wednesday.
According to a news release from county officials, Phyllis Poole was pulling out of a driveway in the 200 block of Jolly Pond Road when she hit a parked car. The collision caused the car to run into a utility pole.
Moments later, Poole reversed out of the driveway and crashed into a school bus, totaling her car, the release said.
The school bus was transporting students from Lois Hornsby Middle School, and was heading towards Centerville Road. The release said seven students were evaluated by medics at the scene, but none needed to go to the hospital.
Poole was brought to the hospital before she was brought to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. In addition to DUI, she was charged with Destruction of Property, the release said.
