All-clear given following security concern at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown

YORKTOWN, Va. — A security concern has been cleared and normal operations have resumed at Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Yorktown, officials said.

According to a Navy spokesperson, around 8:40 a.m., NWS Yorktown's security was made aware of a security concern near Gate 3 at the intersection of Longfellow Road and Jefferson Avenue. Gate 3 was secured while traffic was diverted to Gate 1.

Multiple fire and law enforcement agencies responded, including NWS Yorktown's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment to investigate.

Shortly after 10 a.m., investigators concluded the security concern was a "non-hazard" and Gate 3 was reopened.
