WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — A man was struck by a vehicle and killed Friday night in Williamsburg, but no one has yet been charged in the incident.

According to a spokesperson for Virginia State Police, their troopers responded to a crash scene at around 7:45 p.m., where they found that a man who they determined was walking illegally in the roadway had been struck. He later died at the scene.

Their investigation found that the driver of a 2017 Chevy Suburban was driving his vehicle westbound on Route 60 just east of the southern intersection with Route 199. He struck a pedestrian who was illegally walking on the roadway.

The victim was identified as 48-year-old Shaine Deeleeoan Henderson, of Weaver Road in Williamsburg, which is a few blocks from the location of the crash.

The spokesperson said their Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to help with the investigation.  They concluded that neither alcohol nor speed were contributing factors in the crash. Mr. Henderson, the victim, was wearing all-black clothing on a roadway with no street illumination.

The Commonwealth Attorney was notified of the crash investigation. No charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation.
