SMITHFIELD, Va. — The Smithfield Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Saturday afternoon in the 700 block of Wrenn Road.
The call came in at 3:57 p.m., according to Lt. William Wooley. It was originally called in as a domestic incident in progress, but was soon found to be a shooting incident.
Police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and transported her to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“It appears to be an altercation between neighbors,” Wooley said.
Wooley said multiple people are detained. More details may be released later.
