Motorcyclist hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after Carrollton crash on Saturday

A North Carolina man is in the hospital following Saturday's crash.

CARROLLTON, Va. — A North Carolina man is hospitalized after a crash involving his motorcycle in Carrollton Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened about 12:24 p.m., according to Virginia State Police (VSP) Sgt. Michelle Anaya. It happened on Route 17/Carrollton Boulevard at Omera Drive in Isle of Wight County.

Anaya said preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist, Zachary T. Ross of Flat Rock, N.C., was traveling northbound on Route 17 when an Acura MDX pulled out of Omera Drive into the motorcycle’s path. The Acura driver, Susan G. Herrin, of Suffolk, was charged with failure to yield the right of way.

Ross was found to have severe life-threatening injuries and was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center.

On Monday, the hospital notified VSP Ross died as a result of his injuries.
