SOUTHAMPTON, Va. — On Tuesday, investigators said they found the body of Cynthia Carver, nearly a month after she vanished. Court documents show that investigators worked to piece together what happened the night Carver went missing.
According to those documents, Carver’s daughters overheard a conversation Carver had with a man where she told him that she would “wait up for him.” Her daughters were able to give police a vague description of what the man looked like.
Investigators said later that night, Carver dropped her kids off at a babysitter’s house, and that’s the last time anyone saw her. Officials said she was set to meet a man that night.
Carver’s pastor of 18 years, Jeremiah Cole, said that he is just trying to support Carver’s family through this difficult time and that Carver was a wonderful person.
“I know the entire family, and she was a very loving person, a young mother, and a great young lady. We will believe in God continuously to help the family through this process,” said Cole.
When Carver disappeared, so did her wallet, purse, and cell phone. Court documents show the SIM card from Carver’s missing phone was used in another device after her disappearance.
Investigators are now trying to figure out what cell phone tower the phone was tapped into and who used it.
