Hurricane Florence forces Amtrak to cancel stops south of D.C.

Due to severe whether expected with Hurricane Florence, Amtrak has canceled all stops south of Washington D.C. including Richmond, Norfolk, and Newport News beginning Thursday, September 13.

The changes will last through Sunday, September 16. Any customers with tickets or reservations on trains being canceled or modified will be accommodated with a similar departure time on a different day.

Amtrak has offered to waive any additional charges for customers who want to change their reservation due to the schedule modifications. To make changes to your reservation, call Amtrak's reservation center at 1-800-872-7245.

Anyone planning on traveling from Thursday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 16 should check their train status online or with the Amtrak app.
