GLOUCESTER, Va. — The mother of a Gloucester High School student was arrested after she accidentally brought a gun into the school Wednesday, authorities say.
According to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Dannika Ann Cody went to the school for a meeting with faculty. Cody self-reported to school officials that she had accidentally brought a gun in her purse.
"At no time was the pistol taken out of her purse, nor were any threats of violence made," the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office said after reviewing video evidence and interviewing the suspect and witnesses, deputies took Cody into custody for possession of a firearm on school property, which is a Class 6 felony.
