Bystander grabs gun during road rage fight in Gloucester County, Sheriff's Office says

Deputies received multiple calls reporting a vehicle accident and a physical fight near the Stagecoach Market on George Washington Memorial Highway on Friday.

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. — A physical fight broke out on the roadway Friday morning following a road rage incident, the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office said.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies received multiple calls reporting a vehicle accident and a physical fight near the Stagecoach Market on 6053 George Washington Memorial Highway around 9:20 am. They also received calls that one of the people involved had a gun.

When deputies arrived they saw one of the involved people had facial injuries that required emergency medical attention. An investigation revealed that this was a road rage incident that led to a physical fight between two drivers.

The Sheriff's Office said a passerby saw the two fighting in the roadway and noticed a firearm on the ground. They secured the gun until law enforcement arrived.

Deputies said the investigation remains ongoing, but there is no word on what, if any, charges either driver will face.
